In late summer 2022 I visited Germany’s most dangerous island for Cicero Magazine: Riems is best place in this country to learn about infections and pandemics. Behind the metal fences secured with barbed wire and cameras, the Friedrich Löffler Institute is researching animal diseases and zoonoses.
